To help us help you faster, tell us your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you expected to happen. A screenshot or screen recording is gold.
2. Getting started
Sign in with your Apple ID. Then tap Create a new scene on Home, give it a name, and add your characters.
Next, put in your lines. Record them or type them in yourself. It feels slow at first, but it’s honestly how you’ll memorize faster. For your scene partners’ lines, you can record them too, or pick an AI voice to read them.
3. Rehearsing
Open your scene in Rehearse and run it out loud. Penelope reads your scene partners, listens for your lines, and comes in on cue when you finish.
Penelope needs microphone and speech recognition access to listen. If you said no the first time, turn them on in your iPhone’s Settings › Penelope.
It works best in a quiet room with your phone nearby. Tap any line to jump straight to it.
Can’t hear your scene partner? Check that your phone isn’t on silent and that your headphones or Bluetooth speaker are connected. AI voices also need an internet connection the first time they read a line.
4. Self tapes
Open Self Tape and allow camera and microphone access. Choose a scene and a reader, or just hit record without a script.
Your takes are saved in My Takes on your phone. To keep this private, they’re left out of iCloud backups, so save or share the takes you love from My Takes before you switch phones.

5. Free and Pro
Line memorization with your own recordings is free, forever. Everyone also gets 50 free lines with AI voices and 30 free hands-free “Line” calls to try it out.
Pro gives you AI voices and hands-free “Line” calls without limits, in rehearsal and in your self tapes. Choose a monthly or yearly subscription, or Pro · Single Day for 24 hours from purchase with no auto-renewal. Apple handles all billing. To change or cancel, open your iPhone’s Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong on our end, tell us and we’ll help you sort it out.
6. Your account and data
Your scenes and takes live on your phone, and they belong to you.
To delete your account, go to Settings → Account & billing → Delete account in the app. This removes your account from our servers and erases your Penelope scenes and takes from that phone, so save any takes you want to keep first. If you have Pro, cancel it in your Apple settings too.

7. Found a bug?
Thank you for telling us! Email info@penelopeacting.com with a screenshot or screen recording and roughly when it happened. You never need to send us your script. If a specific line is acting up, describing it is plenty.
